47 UNG cadets earn recognition as Distinguished Military Graduates
Some 47 Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) cadets at the University of North Georgia (UNG) have been ranked in the top 20 percent in the nation out of 5,536 cadets in this year's U.S. Army Cadet Command national Order of Merit List. Ranking in the top 20 percent and higher also carries with it designation as a Distinguished Military Graduate.

Corps of Cadets honors top cadets as Distinguished Military Students
On Sept. 11, the University of North Georgia's (UNG) Boar's Head Brigade held the 2016 Distinguished Military Students (DMS) Review, conducted annually to honor senior ROTC cadets who have excelled academically and as leaders.

Dantae Gilmore sworn into UA AFROTC
University of Alabama undergraduate student Dantae Gilmore has been contracted into UA's Air Force ROTC detachment. Gilmore and 19 other UA students were sworn into AFROTC on Sept. 21 at "Bama Salute," a UA Athletics-sponsored event that honors active duty military members and veterans at various UA sporting events throughout the year. The UA cadets were sworn in at a UA soccer game in front of nearly 700 people, an unusual but celebrated venue and audience, as contracting ceremonies are typically low-key, with family and other cadets and ROTC cadre present.

Belmont Draws 8,080 Students for Fall 2017, Largest Enrollment Yet
Belmont's fall 2017 semester kicked off with a record-breaking enrollment number for the 17th consecutive year as the University welcomed 8,080 students to the first day of classes, nearly triple the enrollment in 2000. First-year students MAP out next four years
On July 21, Oglethorpe welcomed 84 incoming students for the third and final summer orientation, known as a MAP (Making a Petrel) Day. Oglethorpe's mascot is the Stormy Petrel. During MAP Day, these first-year students enrolled in their fall semester classes and received their official Petrel Pass student IDs. Classes start August 21, 2017.

University of North Georgia President Bonita Jacobs recognizes students who achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the summer 2017 semester. Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in bachelor's degree programs who achieved a 4.0 grade point average were named to the President's Honor Roll.
